Services We Offer At Bellevue Eastside Family Chiropractic

Bellevue Eastside Family Chiropractic utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to evaluate and treat the acute; subacute and chronically injured patients. We are committed to the recovery, lasting pain relief and overall health maintenance of our patients.

Chiropractic Care:
Chiropractic is based on the idea that the body is self-sustaining and self healing organism.  The body is in essence completely controlled by the brain through its connection via the spinal cord and the vast network of nerves that make up the Central Nervous System.  When this system is not functioning at its peak the overall performance of the human body will be in a state of dis-ease. This state of dis-ease is called vertebral subluxation complex.  One of the primary objective of your Chiropractor is the detection and correction of vertebral subluxation complex.

Wellness Care:
Wellness care focuses on the definition of Wellness: "The state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being not merely the absent of disease and infirmity"- World Health Organization.  Achieving total health by whole-patient wellness emphasizing prevention and self-care. Our wellness program will focus on your overall well being and achieving optimum health potential.

Physical Rehabilitation:
Physical Rehab has been proven to be effective in the treatment of a number of soft-tissue injuries, acute pain, and chronic inflammatory conditions. These conditions include soft tissue injury, muscle pain, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome and sciatica.  Utilizing passive and active modalities helps to improve joint function and musculoskeletal health and soft tissue injures.

Medical/Treatment Massage vs Wellness/Relaxation Massage:
Medical/treatment Massage: In our office, we work with many patients who have a medical prescription for massage therapy. Medical Massage is defined as: “A treatment with the intent of improving conditions or pathologies that have been diagnosed by a physician; this procedure is utilized to focus the treatment based on the diagnosed condition.” It is a treatment that is directed by the referring doctor and performed by our licensed massage therapists. Medical massage is not the same as a wellness/relaxation massage and in order to rehabilitate or treat an injury or diagnosed condition effectively, our therapist will collaborate and coordinate with referring physician to achieve patient’s objective goals. The CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) code used for a medical massage in our office is 97124.

Medical/treatment Massage (CPT 97124): $37.50/unit (One unit equals: 8-22 minutes) (Two units equals: 23 minutes – 37 minutes) (Three units equals: 38 – 52 minutes) (Four units equals: 53 minutes – 67 minutes) There is a maximum of 4 units billed per day.

Wellness/relaxation Massage: This is the category of massages that we offer that are not doctor directed and do not require a medical prescription. There is a wide variety of massage techniques that our therapists are trained to perform wellness/relaxation massage. The distinct differences between wellness massage and that of medical massage in this office is that a wellness massage does not require a specific diagnosis, there is often not a treatment plan or medically necessary goals, there is not a need for a care plan because this service is elected at the discretion of the patient. There is no CPT code for a wellness massage. We cannot bill health insurance; auto insurance or any 3rd party for a wellness massage. Even if a patient has health insurance; auto insurance or any 3rd party claim we will not bill a wellness massage from our office.

We understand the definition of WAC code: 246-808-545. We are fully compliant with all WAC sections issued by the CQAC. There is a distinct difference between a medical massage and a wellness massage within this clinic. This is why the charges are as differentiated as follows:

Wellness/relaxation Massage: $85/hour

Medical/treatment Massage (CPT 97124): $37.50/unit (One unit equals: 8-22 minutes) (Two units equals: 23 minutes – 37 minutes) (Three units equals: 38 – 52 minutes) (Four units equals: 53 minutes – 67 minutes) There is a maximum of 4 units billed per day.
